The Chicago Buildings With the Most Within a 10-Minute Walk

TL;DR We counted everything within a true 10-minute walk of every building we track. Randolph Tower in the Loop leads with 305 places, followed by Millennium on LaSalle (297), 215 West (296), MDA Apartments (292), and OneEleven (288). If you want the city at your doorstep, these are the addresses.
Most walkability scores rate a neighborhood. We wanted to rate the actual front door. So we mapped every restaurant, bar, cafe, grocery store, park, gym, pharmacy, train stop, and Divvy station within a true 10-minute walk of each building we track, measured by routed walking time on real sidewalks, and added them up. Here are the Chicago addresses where the most of the city is at your feet.

What 300-plus places actually means
These numbers are hard to picture until you live it. At Randolph Tower, a true 10-minute walk puts more than 300 destinations in reach: dozens of restaurants and bars, a long list of coffee shops, multiple grocery options, parks, train entrances, and a cluster of Divvy docks.
In practice that means you almost never plan around logistics. Dinner, a workout, a coffee meeting, a grocery run, and the train to work are all a short stroll away, in different directions, every day. It is the densest version of city living Chicago offers.
Why the Loop and River North win
The pattern is no accident. The top of the list is all downtown and just-across-the-river, because those neighborhoods pack the most into the smallest space.
The Loop is the convergence point of the entire CTA system and the city's office core, so Randolph Tower, Millennium on LaSalle, 215 West, and MDA Apartments sit on top of transit and lunch spots alike. River North layers the city's densest nightlife and dining onto that, which is why State and Grand and AMLI River North score so high. The West Loop and Fulton Market are close behind, bringing the restaurant scene and the Green and Pink Lines.
Is denser always better?
Not for everyone, and that is worth saying. The busiest addresses come with the most energy and the most foot traffic, which some people love and others find like a lot. If you want the city humming outside your door, the top of this list is the dream. If you want calm, you might pick a building a few notches down, or in a quieter pocket.
The beauty of measuring it building by building is that you can dial in exactly how much city you want.
How to use this
Use the ranking as a shortcut to maximum convenience. If your priority is having everything within a 10-minute walk, start with Randolph Tower, Millennium on LaSalle, 215 West, or MDA Apartments.
